The AISC structure follows the structure of an American system school. The school is divided into three main sections: The Elementary Program (also known as primary or lower school) for students 3 to 10 years old, the Middle School Program, for students 11 to 13, and the High School Program (also known as secondary or upper school), for students 14 to 18. Students generally turn 19 during their graduating year.
In Elementary School, there is a Kindergarten program for children who are 3, 4 or 5. From age 6, numbered grades begin. The Elementary students have a home room for core subjects, and specialist teachers for other subjects.
In Middle School, students receive English, Math, Social Studies, Science, second language and Physical Education (sport), and a cycle that includes Drama, Music, Art, Computers, Guidance/Health, all with specialist teachers.
In High School, students acquire points towards graduation, in a balanced program of studies.
Please see the tabs above for details on each program.
The AISC curriculum is developed on a continuous cycle with at least one academic discipline under review each school year. AISC teachers develop our curricula with a review and adoption procedure that allows them to review our present curriculum and other proven American and international curricula, taking into consideration new standards in academics. Our curriculum is then written using excellent sources and considering the context of our unique position as a school here in Cyprus. The ultimate goal is to provide a curriculum that is equal to or exceeds United States standards and allows students to prepare for entry to the best universities in the US, the UK, or their home country.
